Definition: Police staff or law enforcement personnel: personnel in public agencies whose principal functions are prevention, detection and investigation of crime and the apprehension of alleged offenders. Data focus on the civil police rather than on the national guard or local militia. Data concerning support staff (secretaries, clerks etc.) are not included.
